Games to play
#16
I'm not doubting you! In fact Seraphein had a great explanation. I was just confused 'cos the thread was like :-

1) I was talking about helmet/armour hits don't count
2) then you were talking about armour doesn't protect fully so they do count
3) I was questioning about your statement (based on what I've read and watch in documentaries)
4) Your response to (3) was about helmets
5) I agreed about helmets but wondering why your response to (3) was about helmets as I watalking about armours.
6) You then referred back to (2) about armour but wasn't responding (3)

That's why I was confused.

Anyhow two points then (and these are honest questions) :-

1) If armours don't protect, why are they around?
2) Separately, from this thread (and confusion) alone to me is justification as to why MilSim in -our- games wouldn't work.

Yeah I sorta worked out the different between real life and airsoft when it comes to armour :p.

It's not difficult for the players, it's difficult for the team leads to manage 'cos the players don't listen or absorb all the rules! That's the difference. Look at the SEALs game in Sept when we simply introduced the medic. Players didn't listen.

I know of someone (who plays with us actually) who's not only been in milsim training, but posted out and injured on the real battle field by enemy fire. So in many ways I do trust his judgement, opinions and thoughts quite a lot (no he's not active on this thread).

Anyhow though, i do like your line of argument and you have convinced me. I guess I was talking more about mil realism (which again is different from milsim), I would be prepared to try milsim scenario game based on the following conditions (some mentioned here) :-

1) small group
2) group must have played minimum 8 times in the past 12 months
3) cannot force ppl to spend $$$
4) must be fun for majority

Rules that will require negotiation/discussion on whether they stay or go :-

1) standard uniforms for teams
2) standard weapons for teams
3) stock weapons (I don't have any and would have to mod or buy!)
4) mag limits
5) touch/knife kills
6) blind fire
7) hits to armour
8) hits to helmet
9) hits to weapon
10) shots through glass pane
11) moving props
[lots more I'm sure]

They've got to be realistic, fair, simple but still fun.

I propose when I get back to Tokyo, we sit down and discuss over coffee, alcohol, or whatever (maybe Hollow Point :p).

King of the Hill - just an insane game to play.

Player has to hold a certain point for X amount of time. its Free For All. Can work with teams anything goes.

and a question about being shot, what about shots to the limb? 90% of the times I've been hit is in the limbs. Do I still die?

And what about dragon skin armor? equipped with that and according to the videos, you are SUPERMAN!

Reading through this thread has been interesting. I am a huge milsim fan TBH and would love to have games out here with the same flow.

Someone mentioned that we could try it out but we'd need everyone on the field to at least know eachother. Well we got an october game coming up which to my understanding it TK only or predominantly. Seems like a good excuse to try some out or atleast the medic rule which I've always enjoyed.

To be honest im abit sick of these counter strike/ team fortress style games that are mostly played in Japan and I wanna get down and dirty with some actually well planned scenario games.

What do you guys think?

As stated previously the October 4th game is a casual game day. We do have another game day planned and I will post the details today. This will be a TKO Advanced game day which is where we will try out more scenario and milsim type games.

Tobo,

It's too bad you have missed o few of the ASTIG scenario-based game days. We have more coming up and will get the dates out soon. However, I think the TKO one is the next scenario-based event on the calendars I know of as stated above.

Please keep an eye out for our games. I think all of you would really enjoy them.

Ask lionel for intel.

You might want to got to live leak and take a look at the images of people hit by small arms fire and the results it has. A NATO round 5.56 is designed to bounce around inside you when it hits and clean exit wounds are exremely rare.... a bullet hits you in the arm or leg you're probably going to loose that limb and bleed out very very quickly.

Its why in MILES training any hit, any where to the body is counted as a kill....cos when you get shot it hurts and it hurts alot thus incapacitating you putting you out of the action.

May i just add that is you are hit in the limb, not only will it sting like a bitch and cause you to bleed out, it will disable that limb and chances are you wouldnt be able to pick up your weapon let alone fire it. If we use these hits rules we need to introduce a "disabled until treated by medic" rule. Lets say you are shot in the Leg or arm: you should be made to stay put until a medic can get to you and treat you before escorting you back to an "Aid station" or "spawn" where you (for the sake of a game) need to wait until allowed to re-enter the battle.
Head shots are instant removal from the battle.

This is all well and good as long as people WANT to play these rules and play them fair. I am well up for it though.

I think..."Sting like a Bitch" is a slight understatement

but incapacitating enemies is great and brings snipers in to the game....... you wait for a medic.... and shot him in the leg too Big Grin

Let me get this thread back on course. So what kind of games do you guys want to play? What I would like to get is a list of types of games people want to play with a description of the game and how it plays out. Please see below for an example. Once we get a pretty good list going then we can start discussing the details of the games.

Example:
-----------------------------
Name: Hostage Rescue

Brief Descripton: The object of the game is for the SF (special forces) team to rescue the hostage from the OF (opposing forces). The OF cannot shoot the hostage until he/she has been rescued by the SF. If the entire SF or the hostage dies then the game is over.

Time Limit: 15 mins.

Line Item Details:
-The hostage comes from the opposing side and must be rescued by his team member.
-The hostage can be used as a human shield.

Mods:
-The hostage has no weapon in the beginning but can be given a handgun once rescued.

Hostage rescue seems pretty interesting, how'd it go over at IBF?

It actually went really well.

Ghost was nice enough to end the hostage's misery by shooting him Smile in one game.

In this game timing, communication and proper team work was required...too bad not many of us had it.

Overall a good game in my opinion and everyone seemed to like it.
